Shipping Policy

This Shipping Policy is drafted to comply with the Alabama Cottage Food Law, which allows home bakers to deliver products by mail directly to consumers within the state.

Obsidian Confectionery, LLC Shipping Policy

1. Service Area In accordance with Alabama state law, we ship only within the State of Alabama. We cannot fulfill orders for delivery to addresses outside of the state.

2. Shipping Costs & Variations Shipping costs are not fixed and will fluctuate and vary for each order. These costs are calculated based on the following factors:

  • Item Size & Weight: Larger or heavier items (such as tiered cakes or bulk cookie orders) require higher postage.

  • Protection Needed: Fragile items may require specialized packaging materials (e.g., bubble wrap, double-boxing, or structural supports) to ensure they arrive safely.

3. Customer Responsibility All shipping and handling costs are the sole responsibility of the customer and will be added to the total order price at checkout.

4. Payment & Processing No shipment will be dispatched until full payment has been processed and cleared. We do not offer "Cash on Delivery" (COD) for shipped items.

5. Shipping Methods We typically utilize [e.g., USPS Priority Mail or UPS Ground] for in-state shipping to ensure your treats remain as fresh as possible during transit. Once your order has shipped, you will receive a confirmation [with a tracking number, if applicable].

6. Limitations on Products Shipped Chocolate confections, including ALL Bon Bons, are NOT eligible for shipping.  ONLY cookies and other baked items are shipped.

6. The customer is responsible for all damages in shipping.

What to include in the Shipping Policy

Generally speaking, a Shipping Policy often addresses these types of issues: the timeframe for processing orders; the shipping costs; different domestic and international shipping solutions; potential service interruptions; and much, much more.
